Neurosurgery Opening with Elite Academic Institution in Major Midwest City

A prestigious academic healthcare system is seeking a spine-focused general neurosurgeon to join a comprehensive community hospital in a suburb of a huge Midwestern city. Interests in spine and general cranial will be very well supported. This is the most recent hospital to integrate into the academic institution's medical network, and there is significant support for neurosurgery and spine. The new neurosurgeon will walk into a very busy practice and backfill a relocation neurosurgeon. In addition to the clinical practice, the new neurosurgeon has an opportunity for a clinical faculty appointment, dual privileges, and collaborative research/trials.

This hospital is a non-trauma designated, 400+-bed hospital providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. It is recognized for its focus on cardiovascular, neuroscience, and oncology care, enhanced by new technologies like a hybrid operating room. The hospital emphasizes providing advanced local care to reduce the need for patients to travel for treatment, and it is also expanding behavioral health services. Since opening in 1972, it has grown significantly while maintaining its commitment to community-based healthcare.

The healthcare system is integrated and centered around a preeminent Midwestern University. Its flagship hospital is consistently rated among the best in the nation. The award-winning health system prides itself on adhering to its principles of superior quality, academic excellence, scientific discovery, and patient safety.

This is a tight-knit community known for its blend of residential comfort and natural beauty, offering residents a sparse suburban feel with easy access to the beautiful forests that surround it and nearby colleges. The city has a "small-town feel" with a main street that bustles with life, a variety of restaurants and shops, beautiful natural amenities, and a strong emphasis on community facilities and services. It's also a place where many residents own their homes, there are highly-rated public schools, and the largest employers are in healthcare, education, and retail.
