Spine-Focused Neurosurgery Opportunity with Leading Midwestern Healthcare System

Due to an impending retirement, one of the leading healthcare systems in the Midwest is excited to recruit a spine neurosurgeon to their sophisticated team for 2027. Those with experience and newly trained graduates are encouraged to apply. Mentorship is readily available.

The hiring hospital is the flagship of the locally-owned and governed healthcare system. The hospital is a 400+-bed, all-private room regional referral center providing care in virtually every specialty. It is a Level I Trauma Center, it is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a comprehensive cancer program. The hospital is Magnet designated for nursing excellence and is nationally recognized for quality and patient experience. The hospital is also recognized as a Top Workplace by Forbes and Newsweek.

Cases can also be performed at a Level III, 200+-bed, all-private room community hospital that is recognized by the Leapfrog Group as one of the country’s safest hospitals and that received the 2024 Surgical Excellence Award™ by Healthgrades.

Practice Highlights:
• Call will be 1:5
• Monday through Friday APPs take first call and the hospitalist team does a fantastic job of managing ER patients; the neurosurgeons rarely come into the hospital.
• There are eight APPs on staff to run clinic, round, and take first call during the day.
• 80/20 mix of spine and cranial cases.
• Both hospitals are equipped with an O-Arm and Stealth.
• Large internal referral base of employed primary care providers with a terrific catchment area of nine counties.
• Anticipated volume of 8k RVUs in year one, current surgeons are at the MGMA 75th percentile in productivity.
• 12 bed neuro-ICU with a 40-bed neurovascular unit where most neurosurgery/spine candidates go.
• Strong clinic culture; no regrettable MA or RN turnover in Neurosurgery since 2022.
• One of the highest performing EPIC hospitals in the country.
