Academic Medical Center in New England Seeking Spine Fellowship Trained Neurosurgeon

A growing academic center in New England is hiring a spine fellowship trained neurosurgeon to join its program. The new neurosurgeon will join a group of five colleagues at the main campus. Interests and training in complex spine surgery is required, and the new candidate will walk into a busy existing practice. Research interests will also be welcome and well supported. Support will be provided by eight highly motivated post-graduate physician fellows, three combined Neurosurgery Residency Program residents, a team of outstanding physician assistants, and two nurse practitioners. Continuous access to four neuro intensive care neurologists and critical care services. Candidates should be seeking a teamwork approach and be interested in a role as a mentor to students and trainees. Vast opportunity exists to develop clinical or laboratory research within the framework of the institution and the robust academic environment.

The Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, 550+ bed academic medical center located in a beautiful New England city. The hospital is the primary teaching affiliate for a well-known local University School of Medicine. The program emphasizes community-based care, with its mission to provide consistently accessible health services to all. It is the largest and busiest provider of Level 1 trauma, Comprehensive stroke and emergency services in the region. The hospital is the sponsoring institution for over 40 ACGME-accredited specialty and sub-specialty programs. Their neurosurgeons are all full-time staff members at the medical center and appointed to the faculty at the University Medical School. They are involved in patient care, teaching and research to further the knowledge and treatment of neurosurgical conditions. The neurosurgery program also works closely with other departments in the hospital such as neurology, the neuro-intensivists/Neuro-ICU, radiology, otolaryngology, emergency medicine, orthopedics and many more to coordinate its patients care and treatment. The hospital has the most advanced Cyber knife, hybrid operating rooms, state-of-the-art Neuroradiology equipment in the city. Together, they provide advanced diagnostics as well as treatment of a broad spectrum of brain and spine diseases.

Practice Highlights:
• Academic program offering medical student, resident and pre-resident teaching, support for research interests including basic science, translational and clinical, and a collaborative environment.
• The new complex spine neurosurgeon will step into an existing program with immediate volume and a variety of interests can be supported including minimally-invasive spine, degenerative spine, spine oncology, deformity/scoliosis, and endoscopic spine.
• Block OR time available
• Call will be equally shared among all members of neurosurgery.
• Competitive salary including base and incentives
• The average neurosurgeon will see roughly 150-250 cases per year (Based on specialty).
