A well-regarded health system in the South is seeking a dual vascular trained neurosurgeon to join the main campus academic center. Mentorship is available for newly trained graduates. Those with experience are welcome and leadership opportunities exist for the right candidate.
The hospital is ranked number one in the state by U.S. News and World Report. This campus is one of six training sites in the world for robotic surgery. In addition, the publication ranks the system’s Neurosurgery and Neurology programs as one of the best in the country.
The academic center offers the opportunity to train neurosurgical residents and provides facilities for basic, translational and clinical research. Opportunities to collaborate with an extensive team of scientists, neuro-scientists, PhD’s, and others are also available here. Research studies specific to peripheral nerve, stroke, trauma, spinal cord and other anatomical studies currently exist. Protected research time is available and start-up lab funds may be offered.
Infrastructure for clinical trials includes a database system as well as in-house data statisticians, medical illustrator, and medical photography. Administrative assistance in handling regulatory issues such as IRB, clinical trial certification, contracting and budgeting are also in place.
The neurosurgery program has the latest in technology including two microscopes, two neuro-navigation systems, a full endoscopy system and minimally-invasive spine systems. The ability for motor and speech mapping is available as is the ability to perform awake craniotomies. The department enjoys the full support of neuro-interventional radiology, neurology, pain management, and rehab services. They are a comprehensive stroke center.
The neuro-ICU offers the support of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of neuro-intensivists, neuro-anesthesiologists, neuro-nurses and a dedicated neuro-call team.
Additional Position Highlights:
• General will be 1:10; stroke call will be 1:4 as shared with an interventional neurologist and two neuro-interventional radiologists
• Case mix of 50% neurovascular 50% general neurosurgery with the opportunity for more vascular work if desired
