General Neurosurgery Offering in Coastal Midwestern City!

Due to a recent retirement, a level III trauma center in a coastal city in the Midwest is seeking a general neurosurgeon. The new neurosurgeon will join an experienced neurosurgeon who has been in the community for many years. The hospital administration is very supportive, and a personable, community-focused neurosurgeon will thrive. The neurosurgeon can anticipate seeing 300 cases. There are no pediatric neurosurgery responsibilities and trauma is minimal. While very few cranial cases are currently being seen, there is an opportunity to capture those cases and the ICU can support patient care for routine cranial cases. Staff at all levels are notably happy to be at work! Both new grads and experienced candidates are invited to apply.

The healthcare system is the area’s largest and most comprehensive resource for quality medical care and is dedicated to serving the region’s 300,000 residents. Resulting from the consolidation of what once were three separate hospitals serving the area, it serves as the only full-service medical center in the county. The medical center is locally managed and governed as a not-for-profit healthcare facility.

Practice Highlights:
• Call schedule is 1:3. There are a total of 7 calls/month, neurosurgeons go into the hospital at night once/month or less
• Primary care, pain management and neurology are strong internal referral network
• Neurosurgery currently sees 95% spine/5% cranial. There is room to increase cranial case volume.
• Dedicated OR team has been there for a long time and have an extremely efficient turnover time
• Hospitalists admit and discharge patients
• Practice has a full time NP
• Rehab center is in the hospital
• Patients are respectful and grateful
• Equipment includes an O-arm and C-arm
• Block OR time available
• Loan forgiveness available
• Community outreach team to help new hires build their referral network
