The Brain and Spine service line is a growing division that encompasses specialized epilepsy services complete with neurodiagnostics and an epilepsy monitoring unit, stroke and endovascular care, neuromuscular care and a headache center offering advanced therapies for patients suffering from headache and migraine. The department consists of 4 full time neurosurgeons trained in spine, complex spine, and functional neurosurgery along with 7 neurologists, 11 advanced practice providers and 2 neuroendovascular radiologists. Within the neurovascular services, the team offers a full range of clinical capability from endovascular procedures to open cerebrovascular procedures addressing AVMs, aneurysms, and tumors. The vision for the service line is to create a system in which every caregiver is more than a number and every patient is more than a diagnosis.
The system is physician-led and comprised of 500+ physicians and advanced practice providers and serves 250,000 central and southern Virginians. They offer an integrated healthcare system, including 4 hospitals, 60+ physician practices, including primary care, medical and surgical specialists.
